SLEDGE

Lead the Way x No Problem (Littermate to Quite Frankly) x Tricked Out (18-13) x 81-5 (Never Before) Bred By:  Roger Lacy Semen:  $400/dose Contract Dosing Available

We made our way to Roger Lacy’s a couple times this spring for a reason. Some of the pigs our crew fed from him this time around demanded taking a closer look—and we were curious to dig deeper and see what was behind them. What we found was a built with intention and powerful enough to break through.

Sledge is a full sib to Mabry’s sale-making barrow at San Antonio this year—a standout. That barrow’s mother? A littermate to the 3rd place barrow at ’24 Houston that stood behind the Grand and Reserve.

He’s backed by a sow line that’s been doing damage in every major ring:

• 81-5: Great-granddam of Sledge and dam of Kaden Mason’s Grand at Fort Worth ‘22

• 81-11: Dam of Grant Lackey’s Grand at San Antonio ‘22

• 81-10: Dam of the Reserve Grand and Champion Heavy at Denver ‘22

• 81-7: Dam of the Champion Middle at Illinois

Layer in Lead the Way, a Turning Tricks x 82-8 (Never Before) whose dam is a littermate to 82-5—Heavy Hitter’s grandmother—and you’ll find 81-5 stacked into this pedigree twice.

I’ve got a lot of respect for guys who breed with a vision in mind. Roger did just that. That kind of intentionality creates consistency and consistency makes better pigs.
